5:59pm, W Mulberry Street and Park Avenue, Baltimore, MD
The last few times I've biked back from Federal Hill, I've caught this lot out of the corner of my eye. This used to be a parking structure. In 2012, my friend/artist acquaintance Indigo painted a mural on the south wall of a building facing this lot. You can't see it in my framing. I was very intentional about my location within the frame and deliberate about my speed. I don't know how long it's been a pile of rubble but it has palpable energy. There are anti-police protests in Baltimore and across the nation. A helicopter is hovering above. As I am dancing, I notice lots of natural quartz on the ground. Quartz and broken glass. I put in about 5 hours of work at 405 today. Working off a shitty night's sleep. No yoga and no abs today. But yes to daily dancing. I feel called to further explore potential sites in and around this neighborhood/location. However, I will be headed to DC in a few days. A disruption to my usual routine but a well needed change of scenery. The sun is hot. I am dirty, tired, and hungry. Day one hundred fifty-one.
