4:32pm, at Dorothy I. Height Elementary School, Baltimore, MD
I decided to walk home from nannying today. One of the mom's has been giving me rides lately. Initially I thought I would dance in the basketball court but that felt a bit redundant. I danced in a court just last week, I think. There is a low wall that hits right around my knee, maybe just below. It's the perfect "object" to interact with. There is a playfulness that I feel. I also feel more confident and capable with my balance. The golden setting sun is behind the building behind me. We slink ever closer to the darkest and shortest day of the year. While this transition becomes increasingly more challenging to weather each year, the winter solstice continues to hold spiritual significance for me. I am in the home stretch of this project, at least this phase of it. I want to continue to make dances that feel charged and inspired. the intention is set and I will accept what follows. Day three hundred forty-four.
