DAILY DANCE BLOG

Today is the winter solstice. The shortest day of the year. From here until the summer solstice, we are all walking into the light again. This morning I had a lovely walk with my friend Peter. He asked me about this project. As I talked, I realized how much I've grown and learned from this commitment. Today is a rare weekday off of work. I spent most of the day in my studio. I took advantage of not having any obligations and found a site outside my usual treks. All of these dances are embedded in my lived/physical memory. They live in the spaces where they unfolded. A new thought entered my mind... what if I spend 2021 reviewing the footage from 2020 and write new entries regarding my personal response? Layering the work develops complexity. Extending the timeline allows time and space for maturation of the idea(s). It would be a new kind of commitment, less intrusive of my time in some ways but no less involved. There are a few more days left in 2020 to ponder the next moves. Day three hundred fifty-six.
